This was a mechanical redesign and build of an existing interactive. The original mechanism

used a servo to jitter the wings which would fail every 3-6 months and work intermittently. I

designed a new wing flapping mechanism within the existing sculpture, creating an apparatus

similar to a rod puppet. The wings are attached to two axes which are yoked to a down rod. The

down rod connects to a stepper motor underneath the platform which is controlled by an

arduino connected to a vibration sensor. The code varies the speed and number of the wing

flaps, giving a random motion each time the Dragonfly is triggered by a guest knocking at the

glass.
