Ebb and Flow is a mixed media sculpture. After examples I had seen on the internet, I modified an Argus 300 institutional slide projector into a video projector by hooking a video looper to a small delaminated LCD screen. I then created a short video using A.I. algorithms to stylize video of water flowing in a canal close to where I live. I had the A.I style the video two ways, once with an Image I took of cottonwood trees surrounding the rio grande river and again with an image of circuity I had designed an built. I composited the results together so that the images kept the original motions of the water while oscillating back and forth in tandem. I wanted to explore this moment in time where A.I. algorithms are starting to interact with the personal, the institutional and the ecological. Ebb and Flow is an attempt to find a balancing point for these concepts.
